Description:

Join us on this unique walk, discovering 22 mosaics along the way. This walk covers a wide range of terrain, including moorland, woodland and farm land. The walk is mainly undulating but there are some slightly steep sections.

This enjoyable trail around part of Dallowgill is illuminated with 22 mosaics depicting local scenes, flora and fauna which might be encountered along the route. The trail was created as part of a community project to celebrate the designation of Nidderdale as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The mosaics were made in 1997 by ‘The Crackpots’ from Kirkby Malzeard. I enjoyed meeting one of 'The Crackpots' on my recce and finding out all about their work.

We look forward to ticking off all 22 mosaics and hopefully not missing any along the way!!

🪧Please meet outside Tom Corner Barn by 10.30am, ready to set off and discover the first mosaic -  sheep.

🅿️ The free parking area is on the moor above Tom Corner, provided by the Dallowgill Estate Grid Ref: SE 181727. ///harmlessly.flock.marriage. There is also a parking bay just below Tom Corner.

🚻 Unfortunately there are no toilets on this walk. There are public toilets in the nearby towns of Ripon and Masham. There is also plenty of woodland during the walk!

🥪 Please bring a packed lunch

🥾 Most of the route is on good tracks, although some of the route was muddy on the recce. Please wear appropriate footwear.

🐶 Dogs are welcome on this walk, although must remain on leads in areas with livestock. There are no stiles. Gates and narrow footbridges feature throughout.

🍺 After the walk you are welcome to join us for a drink. Unfortunately, there are no pubs close by. However, there is the opportunity to drive to 'The Queen's Head' in Kirkby Malzeard (9 mins). Please bring a pair of clean shoes for this.
