Starting from Wigginton Pond we leave the village and walk through farmland and quiet country lanes towards Moorlands Nature Reserve. We take some time to explore this former Edwardian woodland garden where hopefully many of the rhododendrons and azaleas will be in flower (not guaranteed). After leaving Moorlands we continue our circuit before skirting the edge of York City Football Club's training ground on our way back towards Wigginton.

🅿️ On-street parking is available on Westfield Lane (opposite school playing field) or on neighbouring streets such as Greenshaw Drive and Walmer Carr. Please park with consideration for local residents.
🚻Please note there are no public toilets available (only in the Black Horse after the walk)
🚌 You can get to Haxby and Wigginton from York using the number 1 or 13/14 bus services. The number 1 route terminates near Wigginton Pond and the 13/14 route has stops in the centre of Haxby (about half a mile down the road).
🐶 Unfortunately this walk is not suitable for dogs because we pass through a nature reserve which prohibits dogs.
🥾Please ensure you bring suitable footwear
🍺 After the walk we can visit the Black Horse nearby (or another village pub) for refreshments.
